Buffalo, New York -- April 21, 2008 -- on Thursday April 17, 2008 SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc. held its fourth annual Business Networking Reception to honor the efforts of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. The Conservancy's mission to enhance, restore, and maintain the cultural treasure of the Conservancy for generations to come reflects SBLI USA's hope to increase awareness around environmental conservation efforts worldwide.
Buffalo civic, government, and business leaders gathered with SBLI USA local bank partners and associates on Thursday evening at the historic Jacobs Executive Development Center. Formerly known as the Butler Mansion, this location is also where SBLI USA hosted their 2006 networking reception with Buffalo Reads, in support of increasing literacy in children.
This year SBLI USA addressed another important issue which, like literacy, impacts the future of every individual. "Our interactions with the environment affect all we do every single day." said SBLI USA President and CEO Vikki Pryor. "We are so grateful to have the opportunity to spread environmental awareness in Buffalo, a community that is not only committed to the cause, but has done so much to foster awareness of SBLI USA's own mission--empowering communities with the tools and resources they need to help secure their financial futures."
Pryor has been actively involved in the Buffalo community both professionally and individually. She sits on the Dean's Advisory Council and personally funds an annual scholarship, The Marie Nesbitt Promise Prize, at the University at Buffalo Law School, her alma mater.
SBLI USA's reception also serves as an opportunity to recognize a Western New York charitable institution whose good works exemplify the values that guide the company. At the event, SBLI USA presented their Community Service Award to the Olmsted Parks Conservancy for their continued effort and dedication to the preservation of the Buffalo community. Previous recipients recognized by this award are Buffalo Reads, the Food Bank of Western New York, and the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.
The SBLI USA Buffalo Customer Center, located in the Walden Galleria Mall, regularly sponsors educational events to help the community better manage their health care and finances, contributes to local civic and charitable endeavors, and provides a relaxed environment where visitors can self-assess their insurance needs via interactive kiosks or consult with licensed agents. A children's entertainment center is located within the contained space to ensure a family-friendly visit. To find out more about SBLI USA customer centers please visit www.sbliusa.com.

About The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy:
The Conservancy is a not-for-profit, membership-based, community organization. Beginning as the Friends of the Olmsted Parks in 1978, it entered a public/private partnership with the City of Buffalo in 1995. Through a City-County-Conservancy agreement that became effective on July 1, 2004, it became the first not-for-profit organization in the nation to manage a park system. The Conservancy's mission is to broaden awareness of, appreciation for, and investment in Buffalo's Olmsted Park System in order to enhance, restore and maintain this cultural treasure for the benefit of current and future generations. The System includes 6 major parks, 8 connecting parkways, 9 circles and 7 smaller spaces.
