Bemiss is a managing director of Ewing Bemiss & Company, an investment banking firm that provides advisory, financing, and merger and acquisition services to corporate clients ranging from major public companies to small, privately held, businesses. Bemiss is also a director of EB Investments, LLC and EB Fund II, LLC.
Bemiss began his investment banking career as a member of the corporate finance department of Goldman Sachs & Co., and was subsequently responsible for the New England investment banking activities of Shearson Lehman Hutton, Inc. He has also served as a vice president at William Kent International, Inc., where he provided international strategic consulting services to major industrial and consumer products companies, and as president of Admiralty Advisors, Inc., a private investment management company that he founded and managed in Boston, Massachusetts.
In addition to his corporate involvements, Bemiss is a director of the People of America Foundation, a trustee of the Elk Hill School, a Board Governor of the St. Christopher's School, and a member of the Corporation of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1977, and a law degree and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Virginia in 1982.
