|  |  |  | Joseph L. Mancino was elected as chairman of SBLI USA's board in August of 2006. He is the recently retired president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of The Roslyn Savings Bank. Mancino has also served as vice-chairman, president and chief executive officer of Roslyn Bancorp, Inc. the bank holding company. In 2003, he successfully completed the merger of The Roslyn Savings Bank into New York Community Bank, and served as co-chairman of the New York Community Bank.
Mancino began his banking career in 1958 and, in 1960, launched a long career with Roslyn Savings Bank. He held a variety of positions during his 47-year tenure with the organization, including: mortgage origination officer, auditor, vice president and branch coordinator. Additionally, Mancino is an active member of the board of directors of Helen Keller Services for the Blind, the Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Abilities, Winthrop University Hospital, and has served as president and board member of the Board of the Interfaith Nutrition Network.
In 2006, Mancino received an honorary doctorate of humanities from the State University of New York, Empire State College, where he also received his bachelors of finance and economics degree. He holds a certificate from the American Institute of Banking and a degree from the Graduate School of Savings Banking at Brown University.
